Gary McKenzie from London UK, came to Vancouver BC Canada in 2011.
His interest in bamboo extends from growing it as a household plant to now using it as a media. He got into making bamboo furniture in 2010 as a hobby when he first replicated a garden bench, he bought that was used inside the home and ended up in the garden, over time it got weaken and weathered. Having bought large Bamboos to use as fence postings in the garden (which he never used) he decided that I could make a bench for garden.
Coming to Canada and seeing bamboo growing around us, it made him wanted to be creative again. He made a glass top coffee table for the garden of his new home. Over the years every piece that he makes has been purposeful and practical for everyday use. His work as developed into having household items that can be made from bamboo.
When he buys the bamboo, he thinks of what piece of item that will make a statement in the home and functional. So far, all the items he has made as been purposely made for home use. Now he would like to offer this experience to other households, having something that they can be proud to own.
