I was always interested in art and drawing when I was a child. When it came to further education, I studied art and design, a three year program at Capilano College. After that, I worked for many years as a graphic artist/designer.
Later, I found a group of artists who used art to help them with mental health. Their name, “My Artist’s Corner”. Their motto was, Make Art, Be Well. I worked with their coordinator and helped them with their graphic design needs. This started me painting again, which I hadn’t done since college.
I enjoy painting and have a preference for watercolours and watercolour pencil crayons. I still like to dabble in different mediums, and I also enjoy photography; most of my paintings are painted from my own photographs. I usually paint landscapes, flowers and still life.
One of my favourite things is creating whimsical houses, cards and characters, which you can see on my Instagram page .
Most of my work is realistic, but I like to break out of realism to introduce stylized elements of design. I like to enhance the colour scheme. I also like to animate the subject of the painting to a level of looseness without destroying its integrity. I also like to manipulate the depth of field to raise the level of energy.
